HOW DOES XTEND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN COAL USAGE?
South Africa uses 113.76 million tonnes of coal a year of which 17% or 13.5 million tonnes are used for domestic energy needs. Of this, 50% is used for water heating alone. That is nearly 7 million tonnes of coal per annum. Xtend Elements could save over 2 million tonnes of coal usage in South Africa every year and not only contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions, but also relieve pressure on the South African power grid.
HOW DOES XTEND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN COAL USAGE?
South Africa uses 90 million tonnes of coal a year of which 15% or 13.5 million tonnes are used for domestic energy needs. Of this, 50% is used for water heating alone. That is nearly 7 million tonnes of coal per annum. Xtend Elements could save over 2 million tonnes of coal usage in South Africa every year and not only contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions, but also relieve pressure on the South African power grid.


SAVING THE PLANET – FITTING AN XTEND ELEMENT WILL SAVE BURNING 644 kg OF COAL A YEAR PER ELEMENT WHICH IS A SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION IN CO₂ EMISSIONS
There are 4,5 million geysers installed in houses in South Africa and replacing these with Xtend Elements could save 985MWh annually, and in peak demand times 2236,5MWh. This is equivalent to replacing Koeberg's two nuclear reactors which generate 1,88mw.
