Energy Efficient
XTEND elements make your geyser more energy efficient. Over the life of the element, you will save around 25% on hot water costs, significantly reducing your electricity costs and bill.
You can also reduce hot water costs with solar thermal (hot water) systems or heat pumps. However, the costs associated with these systems are often prohibitive, and the payback periods are long.
XTEND elements offer an affordable solution with actual savings and a greater return on investment due to the low cost of installation. Heat water for less and improve the energy efficiency of your home.

Ideal for Hard Water
Limescale build-up around your standard geyser element can reduce its performance by up to 50%. As water is heated, limescale forms around the element, preventing heat transfer to the water. Thus, the element works harder and costs more to achieve the same result. The element eventually burns out as the heat is trapped and overheats.
There are hard water-specific elements available, but they are not protected with stainless steel and are often not able to handle extreme water conditions. You can also consider expensive water filters that may remove some of the salts and particles in the water. Still, you will always experience limescale build-up in your geyser and around your element. Gas and Induction geysers also provide a solution, but the high cost is often not worth the investment.
With XTEND elements, we protected our ceramic chips with a stainless-steel tube and located our heating core in the middle. Limescale will build up around the middle heating core, but it is significantly less. More importantly, performance does not drop as the heat is transferred out through the outer ends of the element. XTEND elements can also be removed, cleaned, and used again, as the stainless steel remains intact despite the build-up, unlike other standard element protection sheaths, which eventually corrode.
Finally, XTEND elements are also protected against dry burnout. They will stop drawing power when a certain temperature is reached, for example, when there is no water in the geyser. This will save on future replacement costs and eliminate the pain of an emergency call-out.

Inverter Friendly
Solar PV systems use PV panels to produce DC current, which is then converted to AC current for use in the home by a grid inverter. If you install a hybrid inverter, you can add batteries to store spare solar power for use in the evening or during load shedding. Lithium-ion batteries are a significant part of solar systems and are significantly expensive.
With XTEND Elements, there is another way to store your spare solar power, which is far more affordable. Your geyser can store 6kWh to 9kWh daily for use in the evening. This means you need fewer batteries to deal with a smaller night load, as the geyser is now included in the energy mix of the solar system. Including the geyser also improves the production of your solar system as it soaks up spare power during periods of low demand during the day.
If the geyser has to use solar power to back up the solar, then XTEND elements are 25% more efficient over time. This helps in the winter when grid power is used. In summer, however, your geyser is often completely off the grid.

Compatible with Existing Geysers
XTEND requires no additional parts for installation in any geyser.
Available with either a flange (Kwikot, Heattech) or the screw-in ( Tecron, Duratherm, Franke, Gap and Primeg) fitting.
Longer Life
Tested to 21,600 heating cycles. This equates to at least 7 years of normal usage.
The durable marine grade 316 stainless steel casing makes it resistant to the effects of hard water.
XTEND has a 3-year product warranty. Standard elements are only warranted for 1 year.
Low Cost of Ownership
A geyser should be looked at as a 5-year cost of hot water. Installation cost plus electricity cost. Over this period a geyser is significantly cheaper to own with an XTEND that without one. Simple.
Before XTEND elements the options for reducing the cost of hot water were limited to solar thermal or heat pumps. These cost in the range of R20,000 or more. They are unaffordable by many and impractical for many others.
XTEND costs far less and fits any geyser. You can start reducing water heating costs by up to 25% for very little compared to solar thermal systems and heat pumps, whether you live in a flat, house or farm.
Can Operate in Dry Air
Each on / off in air is known as a dry burn cycle. XTEND Elements are tested to 5,000 dry burn cycles. Standard resistive geyser elements cannot operate in dry air and burn out almost instantly.
XTEND will reach 240°C and stop drawing power. As it is in a geyser and the air draws very little energy, XTEND stays at 240°C for a while. Once the temperature drops below 240°C, it will turn on again for a very short time, reach 240°C and turn off again. This is a property of PTC and is not reliant on the thermostat.
This means the element will not burn out if the geyser is empty. Once filled or moved to a new geyser, XTEND will continue to operate as designed.
SANS 514 Tested
Tested by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) to the SANS 514 specification. This is a specification for immersion electric water heaters. 2kW Flange SABS Report. U.
